Issues and Projects

The North Shore Community Coalition for Environmental Justice (NSCCEJ) is concerned about all environmental justice issues triggered by the heavy burdens currently placed on the North Shore of Staten Island, which houses a disproportionate amount of polluting facilities. See the EJ Profile and Toxic Sites pages for more information. There are so many issues to tackle – air quality, noise, water quality, land use, and contamination and degradation of once quiet residential neighborhoods. The list goes on and on. Currently, the Coalition has chosen two key areas to focus on: air quality and health concerns associated with exposure to diesel emissions and lead pollution. Visit our Asthma and Diesel pages for more information about the work we are doing.
